The "Effects" panel in our Generator is designed to make your sessions more immersive. A "dry" tone can sound boring or artificial. These effects add a sense of "space" and "movement."
Reverb (The "Space" Effect)
Reverb (short for reverberation) is the sound of a space. It's the thousands of reflections you hear when you clap in a large church or an empty hall.
By default, our tones are "dry"—they sound like they are playing inside your headphones. Adding reverb makes them sound like they are in a *physical room* with you.
- How it works: The "Reverb" knob is a "mix" knob. At 0%, you hear no reverb. At 100%, you hear a lot.
- How to use it: For a subtle sense of space, set the "Reverb" knob to 15-25%. This is perfect for meditation, as it makes the tone feel "around" you, not "in" you. For a massive, cavernous, sci-fi sound, try setting it to 70% or more!
Auto-Pan (The "Movement" Effect)
"Panning" is the position of a sound in the stereo field (left, right, or center). "Auto-Pan" simply moves the sound back and forth automatically.
*Important Note:* This is different from the LFO's "Panning (Pan LFO)" target. The LFO pans the *binaural tone*. The "Auto-Pan" in the Effects panel pans the *background noise*.
- How it works: The "Auto-Pan Rate" slider controls how *fast* the noise moves. At 0.1 Hz, it will take 10 seconds to move from left to right. At 2 Hz, it will move back and forth twice per second.
- How to use it: This is fantastic for creating a "calm" or "drifting" sensation. Set "Noise Type" to Pink Noise. Then, go to "Effects" and set "Auto-Pan Rate" to 0.2 Hz. The "hiss" of the noise will now sound like a gentle wave, slowly washing from your left ear to your right and back.
Pro-Tip: Combine them! For the ultimate "space" session, load the "Alpha (10 Hz)" preset. Then, set Reverb to 30% and Auto-Pan Rate to 0.15 Hz. The tone will feel like it's in a large hall, and the noise will drift peacefully back and forth.
