A Guide to the Delay (Echo) Effect

By Yuumi | Published: October 26, 2025

Alongside the Compressor, the "Audio Effects" panel contains another powerful tool for atmosphere: **Delay (Echo)**. While Reverb creates a sense of space, Delay creates a sense of rhythm and repetition. It's an excellent tool for making meditative or psychedelic soundscapes.

What is Delay?

A delay effect takes the incoming sound, holds it for a short period, and then plays it back. When it plays back the sound multiple times, you get a series of echoes that fade away over time.

The Controls Explained

Our delay has three simple controls:

How to Use It: The "Meditative Pulse" Technique

Delay is fantastic for creating a gentle, hypnotic rhythm that complements your binaural beat. Let's build a preset for a deep Theta meditation.

  1. Load the "Theta (6 Hz) - Deep Meditation" preset in the Generator.
  2. Go to the "Audio Effects" panel and enable the Delay.
  3. Set the Time to 0.50s. This creates two echoes every second, a nice and slow rhythm.
  4. Set the Feedback to 50%. This will create a pleasant, fading tail of echoes.
  5. Set the Wet/Dry Mix to 40%. This ensures the echo is present but doesn't overpower the original tone.
Pro-Tip: Try synchronizing the delay time to your breathing. Set the Time to 1.5s and try to time your inhale to one echo and your exhale to the next. This combination of audio and breathwork can be incredibly powerful for mindfulness.

Using the Delay effect adds a new layer of complexity and interest to your sessions. It transforms a simple tone into an evolving, rhythmic soundscape perfect for deep focus and meditation.
